Supporters wanted!

We need the active support of volunteer election workers, especially on the two election days! Each student council usually has its own polling station, and each polling station also needs people to take care of the election. If you want to help, please contact your student representative council or the election committee! There are still vacancies in the election committee at the moment! If you are interested, please contact wahlleitung@stura.uni-leipzig.de.

What does the election committee do?

The election committee supports the election management in fulfilling its tasks, i.e. the implementation and preparation of the FSR and RAS elections and the determination of the results. It also decides, among other things, about the change of the number of seats of a FSR or possible challenges of the election. The time spent includes participation in the meetings of the election committee, in which, among other things, polling places and election committees are confirmed on the proposal of the student council members, or the election proposals (= the candidates). This does not take much time over the year. What more time is needed for, however, is during election week. There, assistance is needed in reprinting ballots, answering questions about election modalities, or handing out and receiving ballot boxes and booths. Occasional checks to ensure that the voting process is proceeding correctly are also part of the job. In addition, at the end of an election, it is of course necessary to help with the counting, i.e. either to look directly over the shoulders of the student representatives or to recount the counted ballots in the election committee team plus other helpers. As a member of the election committee you should be available at least for the election days, but actually for the whole election week. Of course, you don’t have to be able to do these things right away, but you will be introduced step by step. It is important that you can work in a team and that you like to take responsibility. The work in the election committee is usually also compensated with a small expense allowance.
